The Hungarian Society of Cinematographers is going to hold its award-giving gala in Kiscelli Museum on Saturday evening on 29th October. Lajos Koltai (HSC, ASC) and János Kende (HSC) will open the festival. There are sixteen categories; the most important prize is the 'Cinematographer of the Year'. Last year this award went to Gyula Pados (Terézanyu/Teresamother, Sorstalanság/Fateless). The Legend (lifetime achievement) award goes to four people: György Illés, János Tóth, and Vilmos Zsigmond, László Kovács, who came home only for this occasion.
Panavision, the biggest and the best-known, the most-acknowledged camera and lens manufacturer in the world, and Sparks Ltd., its Hungarian exclusive representative, announced that the award-winner promising university student will be given a $60 000-worth camera package, thus supporting him/her in making his/her first film. For this occasion Phil Radin, Panavision Executive Vice President of Marketing (US), Jeff Allen, Panavision Managing Director (UK) and Hugh Whittaker, Panavision Director (UK) visited Budapest .
